Monique Prignon II
Monique Prignon was born in 1954 in Brussels. She paints from imagination and personal experiences, without the aid of models or photographs, preferring to, "create with whatever is within her".
This collection is fun and dominant in its use of colour. Her confident use of ’wet on wet’ paint allows her to blend and sculpt while enabling herself to work to the material’s natural properties. Her work often takes the form of abstract landscapes with bold splashes of colour laid on top to create focal points and direct our eyes around the painting. She draws back into the wet surface, coming up with interesting ’doodles’ and structures which contrasts the fluid paint underneath.
