Arising from a continued fascination with the world as seen from above, Katie Rhys Jones?s recent works exploit the shapes, colour and patterns observed, in skies, land and seascapes.

After close observation, simplification of her compositions is achieved through the medium of collage. The striations in a sunset, the blocks of colour seen through changing light in land and sea are all positioned in an experimental way. The desired arrangement is then applied to a canvas with paint.
