McGowan’s seascapes are her personal response to the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. She draws inspiration from the beautiful coastlines, rich turquoise seas, rugged cliffs, mountains and soft sandy beaches.

McGowan is also much inspired by the bright colours, shapes, and patterns she finds in foliage, water and sky. Her work is shaped by her love of light, colour and emotion, while her paintings celebrate her nostalgic joyous memories of a childhood of spending summers by the sea.
