Wheatley has always been drawn to structures, buildings and cityscapes, and is inspired by travels, both her own and those of close family and friends.

Wheatley often works in acrylics and enjoys using a dark base colour as a backdrop to her chosen subject. She constructs her paintings by using sharp lines and often includes a strong vanishing point within her compositions.
