Based in Lymington, Hampshire, Cooper has been a working graphic designer for over 30 years and also produces paintings, exploring the relationship between colours, line and perspectives. His interest is developing the area between representation and abstraction.

This series of paintings is partly influenced by Richard Diebenkorn’s Ocean Park series and by some of the work of Hans Hofmann. The palm tree icon used is to relate the paintings to landscape, contrasting with the abstract patterns below. The horizontal bands at the top finish the first perspective. Below the band shows an overhead perspective of an abstract landscape.
