Born in North Wales, Allen grew up in Nottingham and recently moved to Prague. "Be experimental, not precious," he says. Allen treats each flower as an experiment in its own right, exploring his technique and process throughout the creation of each piece.

Allen approaches the traditional genre of still life in a unique and contemporary way. His work is held in the Chatsworth House collection in Derbyshire, home to Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.
