Born in County Durham and following studies at Sunderland College of Art, the majority of Barron’s working life as a full-time artist has been spent in his native North-East. This time has been broken up by periods spent in Australia, Cornwall and London and he now works from his studio in Southampton.

Barron tends towards a minimalist, contemplative style and uses a relatively muted palette to explore concepts such as the passing of time.

Interested in astronomy, he depicts suns, moons and constellations or simple geometric shapes such as circles, squares or triangles. The works often remain abstract, though he is interested in leaving traces of human kind such as a hand or a foot print or, sometimes, objects from the ancient world.
