Spicer is a landscape painter living in West Sussex. His work is inspired by the natural world, especially the effects of changing light caused by changing seasons and weather conditions. He finds inspiration in the solitude and stark beauty that can be found in our landscape.

When Spicer looks at a landscape it takes on abstract qualities and it is this aspect that interests him when he creates his paintings, which are based on memory. In his work he balances the abstract forms of the landscape with the representational aspect of the subject matter whilst creating deep perspective with sometimes a multiple view point.
