Monique lives and works in Belgium. Although her work is abstract in style, it nods to urban spaces by including structural marks such as squares and rectangles. Her compositions are built up using layers of paint and she often uses a sponge to create texture and depth.

She uses vivid colour to dictate the temperature and overall mood of the work. Creating an atmosphere is very much part of Monique’s process, enhancing the suggested buildings and cityscapes.
