Dieter Ditscheid

Dieter is an architectural painter, living and working in the small village of Westerwald in West Germany. He began working life as an architect and was nominated president of the Union of German Architects in Bonn-Rhein-Sieg in 2002. In 2005 he started to become involved in artistic projects and is now a full-time artist, drawing on his experience designing buildings to create work inspired by German architecture.

His collection references the medieval architecture of Köln and Bonn’s Cathedrals. Dieter works using a pointillist technique and creates dramatic shapes and shadows by starkly contrasting dark and light. He peppers his work with colour and features the architectural characteristics, emblematic of these buildings.
