Doug lives and works as an artist in Coleford, Gloucestershire. Inspired by the local Forest of Dean, he paints in a distinctive, semi-abstract style.

Doug is interested in contrast; soft against a hard edge, dark against light, hot against cold. He uses a minimum amount of information to suggest the subject. He tells us, "hopefully, then the seemingly random paint begins to make sense, or alternatively, but with equal importance, the seemingly "random" paint will remain as paint and be enjoyed for itself." His use of line, shape and palette delivers this Gloucestershire landscape in a unique, almost architectural way and his consideration of colour gives it a highly contemporary edge.
