Moira Downie was born and grew up in South Africa. She pursued a very successful career as a model and as an actress in films, theatre and TV. She emigrated to the UK in the late 70’s and continued her career as an actress until her son was born in 1994. At this point she gave up acting and began a full-time career as an artist. Her mother Donna Downie is a well known artist and teacher in the Cape and Moira returns to the Cape regularly for intensive sessions in her mother’s studio. Her own studio is in Winchester, although she lives in Bournemouth.
