On first viewing, you may find yourself a little perplexed or irritated by these paintings. What is the subject? On second or third view, the artist hopes you will see… a Klimt or Modigliani masterpiece, or the works of other famous artists, captured in these new creations on canvas. These witty, unique pieces give the old subjects used in masterpieces a new twist and allow those subjects to shine through in completely different light.

Though the artist Uwe Anders has interpreted world famous works in his own comic strip style, he is sensitive to the Old Masters, allowing enough distance in the styles so as to be truly original in his versions.
