Madeleine Remy is a figurative painter trained at l’Académie de Wavre, Belgium. She initially studied tapestry and found herself becoming interested in abstract.

She has a love for rural France and we see this reflected in her work shown here. She depicts the landscapes roughly, leaving just enough evidence of structure. Her seemingly traditional choice of subject is broached in a modern way, using a pallet knife.
