Born in 1939 Monique Paul studied art at several schools in Brussels. She works on a great variety of surfaces; canvas, paper, found items, recycled cardboard, ruffled fabrics.

Onto these surfaces, Monique layers on texture, prints, scratches, x-ray photos, tissues, and anything else that springs to mind. She also throws on concrete, sand and other building materials. These materials are what give her work such texture, but her real love, is colour.
