Jenny Goddard
Jenny lives in Southampton and became interested in Australian Aboriginal art whilst studying there. The work appears quite abstract but is really quite symbolic.
The solid circles represent water holes in Aboriginal convention and the concentric circles may also represent a camp, a fire or a ceremonial place where the ancestral power in the earth can surface. The brown semi -circles depict women seated although traditionally, they should be more of a ’U’.
Of course once you have a camp, you can have barriers, territory and mergers. All of which have relevance in the business world. The animal pictures all have obvious other meanings but animals are also powerful symbols in the Aboriginal culture, representing whole dynasties.
